Electrical Producer Compliance & Responsibility
Partnering with Ecogenesys
As a not-for-profit organisation, our purpose is to always support our members.
Ecogenesys was formed by the producers of leading household electricals to meet their producer obligations under the WEEE Directive. Led by the needs of our producer members, we expanded into battery and packaging compliance, and wider environmental and sustainability services.
By understanding your unique needs, our experienced specialists can offer tailored solutions to help you achieve your wider environmental and sustainability goals.
Our services help our members in their journey towards delivering circular business models and net zero.
Explaining producer responsibility
Producer responsibility legislation requires businesses to:
- Minimise waste arising from their products and promote their re-use
- Ensure their waste products are treated and meet recovery and recycling targets for the materials they contain
- Design more sustainable products by reducing material use and enhancing reusability and recyclability
Explaining extended producer responsibility
What is extended producer responsibility?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging is currently being implemented in the UK, which will place greater obligations on businesses. The intention of EPR is that producers pay the full net costs of managing and recycling the packaging waste that they produce through a system of modulated fees.
Producer obligations
Who needs to comply?
The UK producer responsibility regulations for WEEE, Batteries and Packaging apply to organisations that produce, supply and sell these products in the UK, including producers, importers and retailers.
Ecogenesys’ WEEE, Battery and Packaging compliance services seamlessly integrate into your business, with the aim of helping you improve resource efficiency, increase reuse and recyclability of your products and reduce costs in support of creating a circular economy.
