Ecogenesys Training Academy will unveil its expanded programme of environmental training courses at this year’s RWM Expo, broadening its offer to support Ecogenesys members, waste and resource professionals and SMEs across the UK.
Taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 16th – 17th September, RWM forms part of the wider Environmental Services & Solutions Expo (ESS) and brings together professionals from across the waste, recycling and resource management sector.
The event marks the next stage in the development of the Ecogenesys Training Academy, with an expanding portfolio of practical, industry-led courses covering environmental compliance, sustainability, carbon and resource and waste management.
From Carbon Literacy to a wider environmental training offer
Launched in early 2026, the Ecogenesys Training Academy was established to turn more than 20 years of Ecogenesys’ environmental compliance, producer responsibility and sustainability experience into practical learning for UK organisations.
The Academy initially launched with three Carbon Literacy Project-accredited programmes, developed for Ecogenesys members and the electronic recycling sector, larger organisations and SMEs.
At RWM, Ecogenesys will showcase how the Academy is now developing into a much broader environmental learning platform.
The growing course portfolio includes training across:
- Carbon Literacy training
- Environmental compliance training
- WEEE compliance training
- WEEE and Distributor Regulations
- Waste and Resource Management
- Sustainability and the Circular Economy
- Emerging Environmental and Regulatory Developments
Courses are available through a combination of in-person, online, on-demand and bespoke learning, giving individuals and organisations greater flexibility over how and when they develop their environmental knowledge.
Learning from people working in the sector
A key difference behind the Ecogenesys Training Academy is that its courses are built around real industry experience.
Rather than approaching environmental training purely from a theoretical perspective, the Academy draws on Ecogenesys’ operational, technical and regulatory expertise and works with subject matter experts to develop learning that reflects the challenges organisations face in practice.
Graeme Milne, CEO of Ecogenesys, commented: “The Training Academy is a natural extension of the work Ecogenesys has been doing for more than 20 years. We have a huge amount of environmental, regulatory and operational knowledge within our organisation and across the people we work with and the Academy gives us a way to share that expertise much more widely.
“Our ambition is to build a comprehensive environmental training offer that supports our members, professionals working across the waste and resources sector and organisations that simply want to build greater environmental capability within their teams. RWM is the perfect opportunity to showcase how far the Academy has already developed and what comes next.”
