Frequently Asked Questions

We would suggest that this course is essential for everybody. No previous knowledge or experience is required.

Carbon Literacy Training gives individuals the key facts to back up their general awareness of climate change, so that they can be confident when talking about the subject personally or putting in place business strategies to combat the threats caused by climate change.

Carbon Literacy Training is especially vital for organisations that have challenging sustainability targets or are starting to develop targets and have an opportunity to prioritise carbon reduction practices.

To receive certification, you must complete a day’s worth of accredited training, in addition to 1 hour of pre-course learning and 1 hour of homework. You must then submit an Evidence Form, including an individual and group pledge which will be assessed by The Carbon Literacy Project.

With over twenty years of working within the environmental compliance sector working with leading UK and international electrical producers as a not-for-profit, member-owned organisation. When it came to developing course content for Carbon Literacy Training, we identified many areas that could be tailored to the electrical industry, that would not be covered in a more general course, but would benefit attendees working in this space.

Prior to the course, you will receive information to read and a documentary to watch to familiarise yourself with the content.

The course itself is intended to be a very interactive session, led by experienced trainers but encouraging the discussion and debate that generates the best ideas and supports understanding.

Towards the end of the course, each attendee will start to work on their own carbon pledges, which they will finalise after the course has finished and submit to The Carbon Literacy Trust for assessment and certification.

The course is delivered across themed modules combining learning, discussion and case studies:

  • Module One: Climate Science & Impacts
  • Module Two: Business, Policy & Risk
  • Module Three: Carbon Footprints & Measurement
  • Module Four: Solutions & Action

The price includes all course materials, delivery and your own CLP Certification

What really stood out for us is that the course was built and delivered by people from the industry. It wasn’t theory heavy or full of jargon and was grounded in real-world experience. That meant our team could see straight away where they could make changes and why it mattered.
