Carbon Literacy for the Electronic Recycling Sector is a Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) accredited, foundation-level qualification designed for Ecogenesys Compliance Scheme members.

Carbon Literacy Training for our members

Build the knowledge and confidence to make better business decisions.

  • Carbon Literacy is a foundation-level qualification that gives everyone across your organisation the same understanding of climate change, carbon emissions and the practical actions that support better business decisions
  • Rather than creating climate experts, it creates a common language that helps teams work together more effectively, identify opportunities and build organisational resilience
  • Currently, it can offer a USP to help differentiate your organisation from your competitors, but moving forward, it is likely to become a non-negotiable supply chain requirement for many organisations
  • Get ahead, by investing in Carbon Literacy today

Benefits of building a Carbon Literate team

After completing the course your team will be able to:

  • Understand how climate change affects your organisation and role
  • Recognise where everyday decisions influence carbon emissions
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and resilience
  • Contribute confidently to sustainability discussions
  • Achieve Carbon Literacy Project certification

Frequently Asked Questions

The course covers the science behind climate change, how it affects businesses, regulation and supply chains, where carbon emissions come from and how they’re measured, and practical actions that can reduce emissions while improving efficiency, resilience and competitiveness. Learning is brought to life through interactive discussions, activities and real-world producer responsibility case studies.

We would suggest that this course is essential for everybody and no previous knowledge or experience is required.

Carbon Literacy Training gives individuals the key facts to back up their general awareness of climate change, so that they can be confident when talking about the subject personally or putting in place business strategies to combat the threats caused by climate change.

Carbon Literacy Training is especially vital for organisations that have challenging sustainability targets or are starting to develop targets and have an opportunity to prioritise carbon reduction practices.

To achieve Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) certification, you’ll attend the full accredited course, complete the required learning activities and submit one personal action pledge and one workplace action pledge. These pledges demonstrate how you’ll apply your learning in practice and are assessed by The Carbon Literacy Project before certification is awarded.

Unlike generic Carbon Literacy courses, this programme combines the Carbon Literacy Project curriculum with over 20 years of producer responsibility expertise, using practical case studies and real-world examples that reflect the challenges faced by producers, compliance schemes and the wider environmental sector.

Prior to the course, you will receive information to read and a documentary to watch to familiarise yourself with the content.

The course itself is intended to be a very interactive session, led by experienced trainers but encouraging the discussion and debate that generates the best ideas and supports understanding.

Towards the end of the course, each attendee will start to work on their own carbon pledges, which they will finalise after the course has finished and submit to The Carbon Literacy Project.

The course is delivered across themed modules combining learning, discussion and case studies:

    • Module One: Climate Science & Impacts
    • Module Two: Business, Policy & Risk
    • Module Three: Carbon Footprints & Measurement
    • Module Four: Solutions & Action

Yes! Whether you’re looking to train a single employee or develop Carbon Literacy across your organisation, our accredited trainers can help your teams build the knowledge, confidence and capability to make better environmental decisions and support long-term business resilience.
